Hey there! My name is Drew Mincey, and I am a Master of Social Work student at the UNC School of Social Work. Currently entering my specialization year, I am so excited to be completing my psychotherapy practicum at Joyful Journey Counseling & Consulting, PLCC, during the 2026-2027 school year.
My passion in social work is helping others untangle their complex emotions and make sense of their patterns and relationships, ultimately using the therapeutic relationship as a tool for insight and growth. I also believe that while therapy can be magical at times, it's not magic - in other words, I'm here to support you through this hard work even when it's messy and complicated.
My clinical areas of interest include depression, life transitions, LGBTQ+ issues, and religious trauma/spiritual abuse. I take a systems-wide view and bring my social work values into my work as a clinician, learning about you from the expert: you! I work from a person-centered, strengths-based lens, partnering with you on your Joyful Journey.
Starting fall 2026, I will have availability for therapy clients both virtually and in-person in Hillsborough, NC. My services are pro-bono, meaning you don't owe a dime. If you're curious about working with me, please reach out to us!
